Pinchas is one of the few Parashah named after an individual. To appreciate how unusual this is, there is no Parashah named Abraham, nor is there one named Isaac, Jacob, Rivka, (Rebekah) Rachel, Leah, Joseph, Moses or Aaron. Clearly, Pinchas was one of the all-time heroes of Jewish history. What was his claim to fame? In an act of tremendous self-sacrifice (and at great personal danger), Pinchas acted to stop a public display of immorality, which had triggered a plague that was killing thousands. Pinchas had stepped forward at a time when everyone else had given up, and for this he was rewarded by God with the "Covenant of Peace."

The time has come to deal with the Real Enemy of the ‘Kingdom of Yahweh’. He is moving in His Spirit to work on YOU, and in YOU! The Remnant (YOU) will not allow the Kingdom to be destroyed from within! Get the Anointing from the Word, THE LIVING WORD; it is a Fire?? Jeremiah 23:29

What a great example of a rebellion that has happened before & does happened and will happen again: A powerful anointing of Yahweh’s choice, not ours. His way & only His way and we have always wanted “My Way”. Last week we were in Korah, in the 2nd year, now we jump almost to the fortieth year, and it’s time to have a way to be redeemed (The Water of Purification) for those who will leave Israel & have a way to return. The last verse in 22:1 …pitched in the plains of Moab on this side of the Jordan by Jericho; Almost across the Jordan. Almost Home, but still being tested!!

Shavuot is one of the Three Pilgrim (or “Foot”) Festivals. It celebrates the giving of the Ten Commandments by God to the Children of Israel at Mount Sinai, 49 days (7 weeks) after the Exodus from ancient Egypt. Shavuout commemorates the fruit harvesting in the Land of Israel. It is also the culmination of the 49 days of Counting of the Omer. It has traditionally had Festive meals, all-night Torah studies and prayer seeking the Ruach (Holy Spirit). It has several traditions, like the recital of Akdamut, a liturgical poem in Ashkenazic synagogues, the reading of the Book of Ruth, eating of dairy foods, such as cheese blintzes and the decoration of homes and synagogues with greenery.

How are we to approach God? Do we come as we are, or do we need to make things right first?

Is it different for those who don't know God yet than it is for His priests? With knowledge comes responsibility. Things certainly changed for Adam and Eve once they received the Knowledge of Good and Evil - their relationship with God changed forever.

What offerings do we bring to God? Do we do it on our terms, or His? Do we follow the pagan practices of the culture, or do we live as the set-apart, holy people of Yahweh?

Can we experience oneness with Him (again)?

A Few Hebrew Definitions

  • Wilderness, H4057 רמדב ּ◌midbar: pasture, the field, this is the area that animals & ungodly people lived in. It is considered ‘outside of Torah’, outside the camp, or outside of God’s teachings.

  • Scapegoat, H5799 עזאזל aza'zel: entire removal; this refers to the goat used for sacrifice for the sins of the people, the goat that departs with the sin, away from the holy people. (Used only 4 times in the word, all in Lev 16.) This is another great picture of Yeshua.

  • Whoredom, H2183 ן ּ◌ו נ zaw-noon': From H2181; adultery; figuratively idolatry. A. H2184 ת וּ נ ז zen-ooth': From H2181; adultery, idolatry. B. H2181 ה נ זzaw-naw: to commit adultery (usually of the female, and less often of simple fornication, rarely involuntary); figuratively to commit idolatry (the Jewish people being regarded as the spouse of Yahweh).

  • Lewdness, H2154 ה מ ז / ה ּ◌ מ ז zimmah / zammah: evil & mischievous purpose, adultery, idolatry.

  • Sanctify, H6942 ש ד ק Kadash: to consecrate, sanctify, preparation to enter HIS presence; be separate, and HOLY.

  • Holy, H6918 שׁ ד ק Kadosh: sacred, holy, Holy One, saint, set apart.

  • Atonement, H3722/3725 פרכ ּ◌kaphar/kippur: cover, purge, to make reconciliation; AT-One-ment
