Identity

Deuteronomy 32:18-20 The Rock who birthed you, you ignored. You forgot God who brought you forth. Adonai saw, and He spurned His sons and His daughters out of vexation. He said, “I will hide My face from them, I want to see their hereafter. For they are an upside-down generation, children with no faithfulness in them.

  • What is the importance of knowing our identity?

  • What is our identity?

  • Sons of God or employees?

  • The Bride of Messiah?

  • Does our identity change over time?

  • Did Israel ever fully understand their identity?

  • How is this connected to the inheritance?

  • What did Yeshua have to say about our identity?

2 Samuel 5:12 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

When we first meet David in 1 Samuel 16, he was tending his father’s sheep.

  • David went through many life shifts.

  • He was anointed to be Israel’s next King.

  • He was in Eliab’s shadow.

  • He defeated Goliath.

  • He was celebrated, then rejected, then hunted.

It takes a Goliath to reveal a David.

It took faith for David to kill Goliath, it took his identity to take the throne.

It’s easier to believe what the Father can do than to believe what He can do through us.

Matthew 17:5 While He was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice from out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”

The most powerful title was granted to Yeshua “Son of God.”

Yeshua served from the Father’s pleasure and love, not to obtain it.

Yeshua often referred to God as “My Father!”

Matthew 11:27 “All things have been handed over to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

  • David’s victories demonstrated his intimate relationship he had with the Father.

  • He understood the value that he had with ABBA Father.

  • David was connected to the authority ABBA gave him.

  • David honored Saul.

Honoring people who we don’t support, agree with, or don’t love us can be a struggle.

Yet, it is a requirement to be a “David.”

  • David realized that Israel And the Philistines had forgotten there was a God in Israel.

  • David was well trained with a sling, but ABBA landed the stone.

Sons are the ones who receive the inheritance not employees.

Our identity flows from our Father God.

Yeshua speaks to our identity-we must believe it so He can build it in us.

If we don’t see ourselves as ABBA sees us, we cannot agree to His assignment.

Numbers 13:33 …We seemed like grasshoppers in our eyes as well as theirs!”

John 1:12 But whoever did receive Him, those trusting in His name, to these He gave the right to become children of God.

Romans 8:14,19 For all who are led by the Ruach Elohim, these are sons of God.For the creation eagerly awaits the revelation of the sons of God.
